A reflection on the Church’s role amidst challenges to Christian principles and truth in a rapidly changing world.
Many of the principles and life styles that we as Christians and the society in general sustain are being challenged: heterosexuality, monogamy, marriage for life, parental responsibility, the sanctity of human life in the early stages of development, in their most vulnerable moment and in their conclusion. This matter is not only a challenge to the principles of Christian faith but a challenge to the very concept of truth. We face a systematic denial of the moral authority of the church, and of its legitimacy to establish and even express its convictions concerning these and other matters. For decades there has been a serious effort, organized and active, on the part of militant radicals.
